The SENATORS Advantage

Thelma Chalifoux School is located in the Larkspur community and offers regular programming to students in Grades 7 to 9. Students at our school receive strong academic programming, are actively involved in their own learning and are encouraged and supported as responsible citizens within the community. Our hard-working staff provides a warm, welcoming and supportive environment where all students can thrive, while achieving academic success and personal growth.

Students will have a variety of opportunities for extracurricular involvement including intramurals, interschool athletics, fine arts, and involvement in citizenship and student and community leadership initiatives.

Choose Your Path

digital fabrication

Digital Fabrication bridges the gap between digital design and manufacturing.  Using computers to drive the creation process, students gain first hand experience with both additive and subtractive manufacturing processes through the use of 3d printing, CNC milling, and laser cutting.  This course approaches real world challenges with state of the art technology and problem solving strategies.

health sciences

As a collaborative group, students will solve a problem related to the field of Health Sciences. They will utilize available data from current professionals and research. Prototypes will be developed and created in addition to a comprehensive advertisement campaign. Students develop skills in a variety of areas such as research, advertising, and a variety of Health Science-related fields.

robotics & coding

In the Robotics and Coding stream, students will develop their coding skills, regardless of whether they are new to coding or looking to advance their skills. They will have the opportunity to practice with and evaluate the effectiveness of different coding languages and use these skills to program a variety of robotic technology, as well as create video games and apps in response to real-world challenges.

digital media & Design

Creativity is at the heart of innovation, driving insights and learning, and expanding what’s possible. This technology-centered course will place an emphasis on design fundamentals, graphic design, image composition, and marketing which can be applied to many industries. No matter where students’ interest in digital media lies, Digital Media & Design students are all problem seekers and solvers. They use imagination and creativity to make digital products that will have a lasting impact. They’re bold, curious, and entrepreneurial.

digital music & Audio engineering

In Digital Music and Audio Engineering students will learn a wide variety of marketable skills. Students will become proficient in the basic functions of a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). Students at TCS will be given an opportunity to learn how to layer digital tracks, record a wide range of sounds, edit tracks and use advanced EQ programs to manipulate the frequencies of sampled or recorded sounds. These skills can be applied to all types of audio production, which include but are not limited to musical and video production, speech recording and audio editing.


Located in southeast Edmonton, Thelma Chalifoux School is a vibrant 21st Century Learning Environment. Our flexible spaces for students and staff encourage collaboration, creativity, innovation, and self-discovery.  Our three year junior high STEM program is designed as follows

grade 7
foundational year

Grade 7 students will be exposed to STEM FUNDAMENTALS which includes a deeper understanding of design thinking for innovation, a project based approach to learning and a variety of CTF (Career and Technology Foundations) options.

Grade 8
Exploration year

 Instruction will continue to be taught through a lens of project based learning and design thinking for innovation.  Students will also begin to explore a variety of S.T.E.M. fields through specialized option classes.

Grade 9
Specialization year

Students will have an opportunity to complete a culminating project for public demonstration.  Grade 9 S.T.E.M. students will have an opportunity to collaborate with students from the S.T.E.M. program at W. P. Wagner high school.

Yellow School Bus
